For 30 years, the majority of our work has centred on social housing maintenance and cyclical projects, but we have also had the pleasure to undertake the external decorations and joinery repairs at the Embassies of Austria and Spain, together with several Foreign Trade Commissioner’s residencies, the joinery repairs at the Embassy of Belgium and have carried out smaller projects at St Mary’s and Cromwell Hospitals, all in central London.
S.J. Barratt was also responsible for the complete overhauling, repairs and draught proofing of all windows and doors at Stockwell Primary School and for the renovation of ‘The Clockhouse’, a listed clock tower in Ashford, Middlesex.
Our specialities continue to be carpentry, joinery repairs and decorating, with particular regard to vertical sliding sash windows, where we are able to repair virtually any part of the window. In fact, we seldom need to renew a complete window frame unless instructed to do so by the client. Replacement is a last resort!
Due to the issue of recent Energy Saving guidelines, which necessitate improving the thermal comfort of windows, we are extremely busy overhauling and fitting concealed draught proofing to timber windows. The fitting of this minimalist profile of brushes and other seals around all edges of the moving sashes, reduces heat leakage enormously and is approved by English Heritage and local authority conservation officers.
Due to our 30 years of experience working with the public on or in their homes, we fully understand the importance of customer service and have built a reputation for quality workmanship, reliability, honesty and integrity and have therefore received nothing but positive feedback in all of our time trading.
